Nancy McCoid
Nancy McCoid has been practicing law in Seattle since graduating with high honors from the University of Washington Law School in 1983. She was Topics Editor for the Washington Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif while in law school and clerked for two years at the Court of Appeals after graduation. Prior education includes a B.S. summa cum laude in Psychology and Philosophy, also from the UW, and an M.S. in Psychology summa cum laude from Western Washington University. Nancy is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Washington, and before the U.S. Supreme Court. Nancy is an experienced trial lawyer, handling cases from the pre-trial phase through appeal in areas ranging from legal and medical malpractice defense, to employment law, to insurance coverage and bad faith, to personal injury. She has handled numerous appeals in both state and federal court.
Nancy has been active in the King County and Washington State Bar Associations, serving on the Judicial Evaluation, Gender Bias, Professional Insurance and other committees, acting as a Hearing Examiner for 5 years, and participating in the Bar’s pro bono programs. She has been included in “Best Lawyers in America” for over a decade as well as being a “Seattle Superlawyer” for many years. Nancy frequently lectures on legal malpractice defense, ethics, evidence, and trial practice topics for both Continuing Legal Education courses and clients.
Nancy and her husband are both Northwest natives and enjoy spending time with their daughter, a student at Garfield High School and aspiring trumpet player, volunteering for Seattle public schools, and enjoying the local jazz scene. They also love to travel and are studying Italian in preparation for living in Italy for a few years after retirement.
